Denture Reline

If you’re one of the millions of Americans who wear dentures, then you know that they need to be regularly relined in order to stay in place. But what is a denture reline? What causes dentures to become loose? Why is a denture reline necessary?

What is a denture reline?

A denture reline is simply a process of readjusting the fit of your dentures. Relining a denture adds material to the inner plate that makes contact with your gums and/or soft tissues in the mouth.

What causes dentures to become loose?

Over time, your gums can shrink or change shape due to weight loss, aging, or other factors. This can cause your dentures to become loose and uncomfortable. A reline essentially “refits” your dentures so that they fit snugly and securely against your gums.

Why is a denture reline necessary?

Dentures may become loose or may fit differently compared to when they are newly made. Ill-fitting dentures may cause the denture to slip or cause discomfort that can lead to difficulty eating, speaking and can also cause pain.

What product do we use for denture relines?

We use a product called Ufi Gel Sc by Voco. It is soft, tasteless, odorless, and most importantly, it does not delaminate.
